Sharing practices for joy, connection, understanding and engagement

About the Fern Hill Center

The Fern Hill Center (FHC) is dedicated to helping people find joy in themselves and connectedness within relationships and communities.  The FHC makes guided imagery and mindfulness practices available to all people regardless of their financial means.  The practices rely on principles of mentalization, or how we understand own minds and that of others, incorporated into classical meditation and guided imagery techniques.

The practices were iteratively designed and researched in scientific research studies led by Dr. Felipe Jain, M.D., a full time faculty member at Harvard Medical School and psychiatrist at the Massachusetts General Hospital.  The theory behind the FHC practices and case series of individual and group therapeutic programs were included in a 2020 special edition, “Second Generation Mindfulness Therapies“, of the journal Mindfulness, the premier journal of the mindfulness meditation research community.

Because wellness is not merely personal or individual, but also depends on healthy relationships and strong communities, the FHC looks outward to encourage engagement with others and the world in whatever way a person can contribute.  In this spirit, the ACT blog considers each person to be a global citizen and invites reflection on how we can contribute from an outlook of equality, environmental responsibility and compassion.

The FHC was created by Dr. Jain to broadly share evidence based practices that promote well-being.
